These strain sensors are suitable for measuring dynamic and quasistatic forces on fixed or moving machine parts. The sensor measures the force-proportional strain on machine or structural surfaces.

9232A

These strain sensors are suitable for measuring dynamic and quasistatic forces on fixed or moving machine parts. The sensor measures the force-proportional strain on machine or structural surfaces.
Main features / advantages
  • Strain sensor for tensile and compression forces
  • Low acceleration sensitivity, suitable for measurements on moving parts
  • Very high measuring sensitivity (even small forces can be accurately measured)
  • Simple installation with only one M6 screw
  • Overload-proof design
  • Degree of protection: IP65 (with cable connected)
  • Ground-isolated version available
The strain in the basic structure is transfered on the sensor via the two contact surfaces resulting in a change in distance. The sensor housing serves as an elastic transmission element and converts the change in distance into a force. The piezoelectric elements subjected to this shear force produce a proportional electric charge Q (pC). The particular advantages compared with the familiar strain gauge technology are the high sensitivity, large overload protection and practically unlimited life time even under fluctuating loads. The measuring signal can be further processed as a relative value. For absolute value measurements (e.g. in N or kN), the strain sensor has to be calibrated using an appropriate reference. The sensor design allows the use in industrial environments. With its connected cable, the measuring chain satisfies the requirements of protective class IP65. The top part of the strain sensor housing is made of stainless steel. A KIAG 10-32 neg. connector is integrated. This allows the use of a broad selection of connecting cables (see accessories).
