These on-board batteries protect against power loss and cable failure during crash tests; they belong to the family Type K3885A (KiBAT).

Five LEDs on the KiBAT top cover indicate the actual battery capacity. Eight LEDs close to the CrashLink2 connectors indicate the device status: operating, armed, error, charge, discharge, T0, Ethernet A/B. The KiBAT has the same footprint and mounting holes as the KiDAU systems. In addition to the backup power, the KiBAT provides six isolated trigger outputs (contact closure) to trigger other devices.
