The contact surfaces have to be just as flat and stiff as the contact surfaces of the load cell itself. If they cannot be finished, local overstressing and damage to the force sensor's surface have to be prevented by using a force distributing ring.

Standardized mounting flanges provide an optimum force introduction on the piezoelectrical load cell. These components are manufactured as precision parts and have a surface hardness between 400 and 490 HV (Vickers).
